In my practice we can perform wisdom tooth extractions and provide you with the assistance you need.
We understand that wisdom tooth extraction can be a daunting experience, so within the practice we offer our patients a compassionate and attentive environment, with all the comforts to make the experience as pleasant as possible.
You won’t believe this, but I’ve pulled nearly 5,000 wisdom teeth in my career, so it’s a piece of cake for me.
Wisdom teeth can cause a number of problems if you do not take action at the right time, for example they can remain included, which means that they do not puncture properly through the gum line. This can cause pain, infection and damage to nearby teeth. The included wisdom teeth can also cause the other teeth in your mouth to get crowded and make it difficult to use your toothbrush and floss. If your wisdom teeth are causing you trouble, my team and I can help.
The first step in the process is to arrange a consultation with me. During this consultation, we will consider your x-ray images, if necessary in 3D, to assess the position of the wisdom teeth and develop a treatment plan. Often the lower wisdom teeth have roots close to the lower alveolar nerve that deals with the sensitivity of the lip and teeth of that side, so you need to be careful not to create permanent damage. Only a scrupulous radiographic investigation and the use of innovative techniques and tools, such as the piezoelectric scalpel, allow to operate safely. If together we determine that extraction is the best solution, we will fix a date for the intervention. Sometimes it is necessary to take medications before surgery, such as antibiotics or anti-inflammatories, and we will provide them directly to you, so you won’t even have to go to your doctor or pharmacy. Wisdom tooth extraction is usually performed under local anaesthesia associated with conscious sedation.
It is important to rest after surgery and avoid strenuous activities.
You may experience swelling and discomfort, which can be controlled with normal painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs. My team will give you instructions on how to take care of your mouth after surgery and what to expect during recovery. If you have any questions or concerns, we are always at your disposal.
